The Sears shopping experience is all but dead, but there was a time when people purchased EVERYTHING from Sears. And when I say everything, I mean everything – including a house!
I was completely surprised to come across this article from the Washington Post highlighting all the homes available through the brand at one point. It was the perfect addition to a fast-growing middle class in areas with railroads. You could order your house, handpick all the details, and then have it shipped to your location in via railroad. Take a look at the video.
