I’m always looking for a way to season up Turkey. I think it’s a great alternative to beef, but sometimes it falls a little short on seasoning.
So you can imagine how excited I was when I found a Special Sauce recipe from one of my favorite Food Network foodies, The Neelys!
Their recipe is inspired with a Neely’s SPECIAL SAUCE and the fact that they mix grated cheese right into the turkey! I NEVER would have thought of THAT. They call this magical creation Mini Black Jack Burgers.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
Kosher salt and cracked black pepper (*Instead of salt, I used Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning)
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
NEELY Blackening Spice (*See recipe below)
Olive oil, for cooking
12 soft dinner rolls, split (I used Sara Lee soft and smooth Mini Buns)
2 Roma tomatoes, sliced
Special Sauce (*See recipe below)
LETS GET COOKING:
The recipe starts out pretty typical:
Add 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey (makes 12 mini burgers) to a large mixing bowl. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
But THEN they stir in 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard and a dash of Worcestershire sauce and season with a SPECIAL Neely Blackening Spice!
After the burgers are grilled, I serve ‘em up on a Mini Bun with tomato, romaine and the awesome Special Neely Sauce.
Season with Salt (I used Tony’s Creole Seasoning), black pepper, cayenne, garlic powder and onion powder
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon Sriracha
1 teaspoon pickled relish
Juice of 1/2 lemon
