Christine Ha ROCKED MasterChef season 3! Not only did she produce amazing culinary delights blind (Christina lost her vision at 19) she went on to win this season’s MASTERCHEF. This recipe had me drooling for Thai Basil Beef. Check it out:
3/4 lb. ground beef
1.5 tbsp. fish sauce
1 tbsp. soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 red chili pepper, seeded and minced, or 3/4 tbsp. garlic chili sauce
1/2 tbsp. sugar
Fresh Thai basil to taste, stems removed
1/2 tbsp. oil for cooking
Juice of 1/4 lime
1. In a med. bowl, combine beef with fish sauce, soy sauce, garlic, red pepper or garlic chili sauce, and sugar; cover and set aside.
2. In a lg. skillet or wok, heat oil over med.-high heat. Add beef and cook until just browned. Strain pan of oil if desired. Reduce heat to low, add basil leaves, cover, and simmer until beef is cooked through, approx. 5 to 10 min. Add lime juice and mix. Garnish with cilantro if desired, and serve with steamed rice.
