THE BOTTOM LINE: GRAVITY

GRAVITY

FEATURING:  Sandra Bullock and George Clooney

DIRECTOR:  Alfonso Cuaron

GENRE:  Science Fiction

SYNOPSIS:  Two astronauts find themselves stranded in space when their satellite is hit by space debris.

RATING:  PG-13

RUNNING TIME: 90 Mins

THE GOOD: Visually stunning!  A technical marvel with two of Hollywood’s biggest stars!

Director Alfonso Cuaron (CHILDREN OF MEN, HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN and Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN) attempts to go where few men have gone before, and for the most part, is successful.  Yes, it is one giant leap for mankind!

Well, at least for the first few minutes…

THE BAD:  Unfortunately, the “monster” that is space, is invisible and fighting such a monster really doesn’t give our stars the battle we want them to face or the suspense we expect to feel from watching it.

Instead of being at the edge of my seat, I found myself more earth-bound.

And for all the magic that was created, I felt nothing…. absolutely nothing!

Nothing for Clooney…

Nothing for Bullock…

Nothing for the film…

THE UGLY:  The best thing about the film… was also the worst thing about the film.

MY SCORE:
